A friend took this about 8 years ago and raved about it. I knew then that I wanted to take the course. Finally, the opportunity presented itself. I am so grateful. The course materials are outstanding but the fact that we have access to a job advisor is impressive.

First off, I have to say that I am so glad I had the chance to speak with the instructor during her information session at VCU. Teaching abroad was an experience I wasn't sure if I was able to pursue, but at the same time I was eager and could see myself teaching and gaining experience in the education field. After gaining more insight from her, she has given me the motivation and encouragement that I needed. Her enthusiasm and energy did not stop after that workshop. Since the first day of class the instructor has integrated a wealth of information from her own personal experiences and education into the course curriculum. Incorporating what she has acquired from her years of teaching and masters education greatly benefited the class. My peers and I were able to gain a great deal of practical knowledge from what to do in an abrupt travel emergency, to invaluable class room management and student communication techniques. Never once was there a dull moment in our classroom. Although we had quite a timorous and shy class, she was able to make it lively and facilitate class participation from everyone. In addition, she was always approachable (she is like a mom to all her students!) and encouraged questions and always provided clear and effective answers. The course procedure and assignments that were laid out fully supported the course objectives. Overall, it was an excellent course, and I would highly recommend enrolling!
- T.L., Richmond, VA
My instructor was very knowledgeable about ESL teaching. The lessons were very engaging and helpful.
- L.S., Newport News, VA
"Our instructor was awesome! She knows a lot about teaching ESL, and knows how to handle her students in all types of challenging situations."
- M.M., Charlottesville, VA
"Our instructor brought an energy and attitude that was awesome. Her mastery of teaching and knowledge was clear and her helpfulness was great!"
- A.M., Bowling Green, VA
"We were given a lot of opportunities to express individual thoughts, work with others and gain confidence. All necessary skills for teaching."
- T.H., Petersburg, VA
I learned so much during this seminar, and I realize that I have much more to learn. The instructor has motivated me to continue my studies with a focus on linguistics. I thank her for making me aware of all I did not and do not know in the area of ESL education and teaching.
- D.I., Yeadon, PA
Our instructor was amazing. I never doubted her expertise and she had such confidence in her instruction. I felt that I learned just as much from simply watching her teach as I did from the information she taught us. I wish I could sit in on some of her ESL teaching. I think she brings a lot to the table.
- L.C., Phoenixville, PA
Although fast-paced, it gives you enough supplementary material to practice on your own and learn at your pace outside of the class.
- W.O., Philadelphia, PA
If you are looking to enrich the lives of others and yourself from a great teacher, this is it!
- A.K., Norristown, PA
"Our Instructor knows so much about teaching ESL, and I loved that she showed us a video so we could see and understand a real-live ESL learning group. I felt very comfortable learning in her class."
- R. T., Mountville, PA
