BELGIUM, FRANCE, ITALY

The proximity of some of Europe’s major cities and the quickness of TGV trains allow you to teach during the week and explore on the weekends. Brussels, the capital of Belgium, is a terrific destination for those who like a more laid back style of dress and have an appetite for beer and chocolate. The romance of Paris and the beauty of the Loire Valley attract millions of visitors each year. The beauty of Venice, the history of Rome, and the shops of Milan make Italy a perfect teaching destination for art, fashion and history lovers alike. There are many teaching positions in Italy that are accessible to Americans if you are willing to travel there first and then seek employment.

AUSTRIA, GERMANY, SWITZERLAND

Ski the Alps in any one of these picturesque countries. Encircled in snow-capped mountains, Vienna, the capital of Austria, and Salzburg, the home of Mozart and a town made famous by The Sound of Music, are modern cities set amidst a rich historical milieu. Working visas for Austria may be more difficult to obtain due to stricter requirements. Germany, with the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, has yet to fully reunite what were once completely separate countries. The ongoing amalgamation of East and West must be seen to be believed. There are many teaching opportunities, especially teaching business professionals in cities such as Munich, Hamburg and Frankfurt. Working visas for Germany are usually easy to obtain. Switzerland, on the other hand, is stricter when issuing visas to foreigners. Living expenses are also the highest in Europe, however neighboring countries are close by and the introduction of a standard European currency allows for easy travel throughout the area.
