ARGENTINA, CHILE, COLOMBIA

If you like salsa, sun, and fun, Latin America is the place for you. You will not find the most lucrative contracts here but in return you will be treated to Latin America’s rich culture, spicy foods, beautiful beaches, and exotic rainforests. Argentina is one Latin American country where Europeans and Americans can feel at ease and travel relatively inconspicuously. For cosmopolitan types, there’s the elegant capital Buenos Aires. More adventurous Americans might enjoy the many incredible ski resorts in Chile. Check out the Chilean Andes, which boast the best snow in the Southern Hemisphere. Four of the top resorts are located right outside the Chilean capital of Santiago. Colombia’s capital, Bogota, is also a fascinating place to visit as it lies at the base of a mountain range that includes the breathtaking shrine-topped peaks of Monserrate and Guadalupe.

ECUADOR, PERU

Ecuador is nature’s greatest achievement. The Andean highlands are a tapestry of color and the Amazon rainforests are a surplus of lush vegetation and exotic wildlife. In your spare time, take the opportunity to visit the enchanting Galapagos Islands. Having risen from the floor of the Pacific Ocean millions of years ago, the remote islands offer unique species of plants and animals that are not found anywhere else in the world. Just outside Quito, the country’s capital, you can also visit the Avenue of the Volcanoes, and the Mitad del Mundo, a monument marking the equator. Don’t miss your chance to stand in two hemispheres at once! The people of Peru, with their colorful traditions, are equally refreshing. Machu Picchu, the intriguing ruins of the Inca Empire, remained undiscovered under dense foliage until 1911. This awe-inspiring site calls out to those with a thirst for ancient history and a spirit of adventure. Likewise Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, will fascinate the beholder. Spectacular varied scenery, preserved beauty and mysterious places make Peru a welcome teaching destination.
